Plastic Free July during the virus

Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution. After 2019 the GazMag editorial make this challenge again this year. However, because of the Coronavirus, this will be different too.

The Plastic Free July movement started it's way in 2011 in Australia, and during the years became a global action. The goal is that we have to minimize or reduce to zero our plastic-waste in this month.

The editorial board of GazMag participated in the Plastic Free July challenge in 2019. And we wrote an informative article about our experiences. At the time we promised that we will repeat it in 2020. So now we start the challenge again.  Although, the two years will be hardly comparable, because the COVID-pandemic made out life different than before. We try to map how the life in Hungary open to the environmental awareness.

The Runway Run, Budapest Airport’s charity running race, started off for the tenth time on Saturday. The airport operator will again donate proceeds from the invitation-only race, which will amount to several million forints, to charity this year.
